NWCL Conference Divisions Week 2 by Ray Taylor
Farnworth are the only side with two wins and maximum points in the Anthony Axford North West Cricket League Conference first division. On Saturday Ribblesdale Wanderers were 68-2, but dismissed eighteen runs later, Shujat Ali 3-21 and Shoaib Ahmed 4-13. Farnworth overtook this score for the loss of four wickets.
Oliver Rawson hit a half century in Salesbury’s 244-6, then Daniel Rawson took 5-34 as Cherry Tree were dismissed for 133.
Andrew Rishton’s 3-21 was the top bowling performance for Read in Farnworth Social Circle’s 141. Elliot Lowes steered Read to victory with an unbeaten 67, Ibrahim Tabassum with 3-13.
Sam Bradley’s 3-13 helped dismiss Barrowford firsts for 69, but then Karim Khan’s 8-14 left Little Lever eighteen runs short.
Walkden’s 217 included a last wicket half century partnership. Earlier in the innings Aaqib Javid was top scorer with 59, Ali Shabar 4-35 and Amir Abbas 4-64. Ali Zar’s fifty helped Burnley Belvedere to 149 in reply, Sajid Mahmood 4-27 and Ahasam Khalid 4-35.
In the second division, Ubaid Ullah with 4-28 and Zahid Butt with 3-19 helped bowl Barnoldswick out for 97, Astley Bridge going on to win by eight wickets.
Adam Nawaz (78 not out) and Alfie Darwen (51) were the main contributors in Baxenden’s 248-8. Kai Manchester hit a half century in Lostock’s 192.
Tom Westhead and Noah Ashworth shared the runs almost equally in Blackrod’s 110 run opening partnership, assisting them to 190. Atherton were handily placed at 44-1, but Ashworth completed a fine all round performance taking 6-26 out of 104.
Abbas Ali had 5-25 in Brinscall’s 57, then Burnley Belvedere recovered from 14-3 to win without losing another wicket.
Oliver Parker was top scorer with 51 in Padiham’s 257-6, but after tea Sam Hall’s 95 was in vain as Eagley’s innings ended at 205-9, Rhys Meehan 3-25.
In the third division, Rod Tully took 3-9 and Harry Naylor 3-14 with Barrowford’s seconds reaching 121. Tonge looked on course for victory at 80-3 but they lost their last three wickets for one run giving Barrowford a two run victory, Tajmal Hussain 3-18 and Abdul Ahad 4-19.
Samyan Patel took 4-27 in Earby’s 190, then Declan Harrison had 3-23 in Feniscowles’ 127.
Foulridge last pair added 32 in their 125, Nadeem Aslam 4-19 and Waseem Hussain 3-11. Oswaldtwistle Immanuel had been 77-8, Jacob Springthorpe 4-46, but went on to win by one wicket.
Highest total of the day was Kearsley’s 326-9, Mohsin Patel 120 and Obaid Khan 94. Chatburn ended the day on 203, with Michael Wright hitting 77 not out batting at eight, with the last pair adding fifty.
