Ramsbottom Cup Quarter Finals
Despite the weather forecast not being particularly favourable, three of the four Ramsbottom Cup Quarter Finals reached a conclusion.
Farnworth Social Circle 2nd v Little Lever 2nd
FSC batted first and made 149 all out. Daniel Hughes making 23 and Jamie Bohannon 23. Louis Partington took 4-24 and Jack Hamelett 3-35.
Little Lever’s reply was dominated by a 4th wicket partnership of 81, between Joe Whitehead 54 and Louis Partington 24 as they reached their target with 4 wickets and just under 4 overs to spare.
Ribblesdale Wanderers 2nd v Read 2nd
Ribblesdale Wanderers made 173 all out, Opener Stephen Tandy 38 and Stewart Trotter 46 added 98 for the third wicket.
However when a larger total looked on the cards but they collapsed from 148-3 to 173 all out mainly due to veteran Andrew Rushton took 6-23.
Read never looked like reaching their target and a late 22 not out Andrew Rushton enabled them to get up to 97 all out and a comfortable victory to Ribblesdale by 76 runs. Graeme Kershaw too 3-7.
Tonge 2nd v Cherry Tree 2nd
This was a low scoring match and delivered the closest finish.
Cherry Tree batted first and thanks to 41 from Opener Oliver Errey managed to have at least something to bowl at 93 all out. Rob Tully did the damage taking 5-9.
Jav Bhagat made 50 including 7 fours and 2 sixes, but he was the only Tonge batsman to make double figures, other than extras with 15. At 93-9 the result could have gone either way but Tonge just got over the line by one wicket. Alex Fenwick took 4-37 and Harry Stevenson 3-20
Brinscall 2nd v Foulridge 1st
Due to overnight rain, no play was possible and the match will take place on the Reserve Date, next Sunday.
