20/20 Quarter Final Padiham v Ribblesdale Wanderers By Bill Slinger

By Bill Slinger

Ribblesdale Wanderers won the toss and elected to field on a bright and sunny evening in front of a large crowd.
They got off to the perfect start when the usually prolific Callum Clarke was bowled by Jordan Britcliffe by the first ball of the match. Jonny Whitehead and sub professional Will Bosisto took control of the match scoring to all parts of the ground and a score in excess of 200 looked on the cards. The pair put on 113 for the 2nd wicket, when Bosisto was dismissed for 27. Whitehead went on to make 84 from 57 deliveries including 10 fours and 4 sixes, but Padiham lost wickets on a regular basis and a final total of 179-8 was less than looked likely at one point. George Kerr took 3 wickets with two each for Ian Britcliffe and Anuj Jotin.

In reply, Andrew Needham with 21 off 15 deliveries got Ribblesdale off to a fast start, but they were unable to put together any significant partnerships. Anuj Jotin made 20 but as the run rate continued to grow the batsman could not clear the boundaries, with all 10 Ribblesdale batsman being caught several on the edge. Jimmy Gray took 5-23 as Ribblesdale were all out for 99 to give Padiham a 80 run victory.

Padiham will now host 20/20 Finals Day on Sunday 23rd July, the remaining three semi-finals to be decided in the other Quarter Finals that are taking place later this week.
