Lostock hosted Carnforth in the ECB Plate T20 Area Final
By Bill Slinger
Carnforth won the toss and elected to bat. They got off a very fast start with openers Ryan Nelson and Tom Parkinson finding the boundary on a regular basis. A score of 180+ looked on the cards. However, Nelson was run out for 50 in unusual circumstances when he was caught of a “free hit” but tried to run and did not make his ground, this was when the score was 90. Parkinson went onto make 42, but the remaining Carnforth batsman found runs had to come by and they set a score of 150-7.
This looked a good target but not as many as seemed likely earlier in the innings.Lostock openers Muhammed Suleman and Samuel Barlow started the Lostock innings with a number of boundaries to get well ahead of the rate. Suleman survived a difficult chance to the wicketkeeper and this proved vital.
Barlow was quite happy to rotate the strike and let Suleman dominate the scoring.
Carnforth made regular bowling changes but could not get the breakthrough.
Suleman won the match with a six and ended on 99 off 55 deliveries including 10 fours and 5 sixes. Barlow made 50 off 48 deliveries as Lostock won with 3 overs to spare and a 10 wicket win.
Lostock go forward to the Regional Finals on Sunday 25th August with a view to making the National Final in September.
