Ramsbottom Cup 1st Round Report
Despite the fairly bleak forecast the weather stayed away and allowed the Ramsbottom Cup First Round to be completed with out the need of DLS, Bowl Outs etc.
Ramsbottom Cup Holders Barrowford 1st made an early exit with a comprehensive 9 wicket defeat at Read 2nd, an unbeaten 2nd wicket partnership of 191, between Oliver Dinning 101 not out and Elliot Lowes 81 not out gave Read the win with over 12 overs to spare.
Salesbury 2nds will not have their chance to defend the Lawrenson Cup, as they won their Ramsbottom Cup match by 10 wickets against Kearsley 2nd’s.
Earby 2nd beat Barnoldswick by 124 runs in the local derby, Lucas Lockley taking an impressive 7-28.
Feniscowles 1st managed to avoid a shock by beating their 2nd team by 5 wickets.
The earliest finish of the day was at Little Lever who bowled Oswaldtwistle out for 49 and won with 9 wickets and plenty of overs to spare.
One of the closest finishes came at Tonge. Tonge 2nd set a target of 141, veteran Rob Tolly top scoring with 66. Baxenden 2nd looked to be strolling to victory at 109-3, but collapsed to 130 all out, Tully again staring taking 4-30 in an 11 run win.
There were also wins for Brinscall, Eagley, Farnworth SC, Ribblesdale Wanderers and Atherton.
The 11 above winners join the 5 teams with a bye in the Ramsbottom Cup 2nd Round with the losing teams playing in the Lawrenson Cup if entered.
The draw for the Ramsbottom Cup 2nd Round has been made by the League Safeguarding Officer.

The draw for the Quarter Finals of the Ramsbottom and Lawrenson Cups to be made at the League Executive Meeting on Tuesday 2nd June at Tonge CC.
