Salesbury looked like they would get the runs comfortably led by Zunaed Siddique who made 39, however they collapsed from 67-3 to 87 all out, o give Earby an unlikely win by 13 runs. Adam Hodge took 4-11 and Joseph Robinson 3-17.
Baxenden v Whalley
The fast outfield and dry hard wicket looked full of runs and so it proved. Whalley won the toss and elected to bowl.
The Baxenden innings was dominated by sub-professional Yohan De Silva. He made 112 off 67 deliveries including 14 fours and 5 sixes, in a total of 171-7. Frankie Jackson took 3-33.
Whalley looked to be on course for a fairly comfortable win thanks to a partnership of 135 between professional Levi Wolfenden who made 61 and Frankie Jackson who made 70 not out. However, when Wolfenden was out a tense finish developed with Whalley getting over the line with just two deliveries to spare.
Frankie Jackson Whalley Captain who had put in a man on the match performance with his 3 wickets and 70 not out said after the match,
” A great game of cricket, we thought 170 was possible due to the good wicket and fast outfield. Despite getting three wickets I did not bowl that well. The partnership between myself and Levi, looked to have won us the game, but it was very tight at the end and was glad to just get over the line”
Group Two North
Cherry Tree v Padiham
Neil Timmers hit 49 in Cherry Tree’s 84, the only player to make double figures. Zander Van Tonder taking 4-14 and Jack Edgar 3-4, however this proved to be two too many for Padiham.
