On Thursday, Salesbury welcomed Whalley on a fine sunny evening.
The wicket looked very dry and Whalley won the toss and elected to bowl.
Levi Wolfenden did the early damage taking the first three wickets
ending with 3-14.
Salesbury never really recovered and despite Tom Stones 22 and Lewis
Pearson 17 they were bowled out
for 107 in the 18th over. Jonny Wardle took 3-24.
In reply, Whalley found runs equally hard to come by. Opener Noah Pania
made 22 and Levi Wolfenden 15 but they were the only batsman to make
double figures other than the 22 extras as they were bowled out for 80 to
give Salesbury a win by 27 runs. Lewis Pearson was the pick of the
bowlers taking 3-9.
Barnoldswick batted first and their innings was dominated by opener
Justin Gilliland who made 143 not out off just 76 deliveries including
20 fours and 4 sixes in a total of 212-4.
In reply Baxenden made 143-6, Kian Loughor top scoring with 38 to give
Barnoldswick victory by 69 runs.
Earby batted first and were all out for only 89,Luke Hipgrave top
scoring with 21. Ribblesdale’s open pair reached the target with an
unbeaten opening stand of 92, Andrew Needham making 56 and Mack Spencer
27, giving them a 10 wicket win with 5 overs to spare.
Local rivals Padiham and Read met again having played each other in the
League on Saturday with Padiham winning a high scoring encounter.
Padiham won the toss in front of a large crowd and elected to bat on a
wicket that looked full of runs and a very fast outfield. They got off
to an excellent start with opener Jack Edgar making 59 and Jonathan
Whitehead making 44 off just 22 deliveries including 5 sixes. A very
large score looked on the cards, but Read managed to contain the total
to 171-8, Joseph Halstead taking 3-29. The score looked about par
considering the favourable batting conditions.
Read’s reply got off to the worst possible start when opener Joseph
Halstead was out off the first delivery of the reply. Read fell to 64-4
with Padiham looking in full control. A 5th wicket partnership between
skipper Will Wrathall, who made 80 including 8 fours and 4 sixes and Ben
Dinning 38 not out. The match was in the balance when Wrathall was
bowled in the penultimate area and they ended on 164-6 seven runs short
of their target.
Another local derby was played between Cherry Tree and Feniscowles.
Cherry batted first and made 152-2, Ross Bretherton batted throughout
the innings and made 74 not out including 6 fours, he got good support
from Neil Timmers 25 and Jake Willacy 25 not out.
The Feniscowles reply was dominated by opener Naveed Malik who made 95
not out off just 53 deliveries including 16 fours and 2 sixes as
Feniscowles won by four wickets with one over to spare
Settle batted first and made 124-7, built around 56 from Ashen Silva.
In reply, Brad Boddie made 50 and they looked well placed at 87-3,
however they ended on 115 all out, 9 short of the target, Silva
completing a match winning performance taking 3-11.
Ankit Lamba hit 42 in Blackrod’s 116 for 9, Irfan Puda taking 3020 for Astley Bridge. Puda then struck 37 at the top of Bridge’s innings but they were unable to find the seven runs required for victory off the last over, ending on 111-8.
Jameel Stuart’s 82 provided almost half Farnworth Social Circle’s 168-5, before David Flannigan made 85 not out and Akbar Ur Rehman 73 not out in Lostock’s ten wicket win.
Ayaz Tasawar lead the way with 65 in Eagley’s 182-5. Walkden found themselves well placed on 101-2 but their innings ended thirty six runs later as Luka Doyle took 5-25.
Zain Abbas (50) and Rowan Shelton began the Atherton Innings with an 82 run partnership but 4-21 from Curtis Anderton helped restrict them to 140-5. Jake Lehman then hit a half century as Little Lever won by eight wickets.
Milinda Siriwardana was the main contributor in Farnworth’s 141-6 with 61, but Tonge fell away from 70-2 in the eleventh over to 130-9 in their 20 overs.
Kearsley posted an imposing 189-9, Jonathan Bird with a half century and Raj Immi 4-32. However, this provided few problems for Brinscall with Jon Hinrichson blasting a century from 44 deliveries and Zaiden Mullen weighing in with a supporting half century.
